Death asked Life
"Why does everybody LOVE you
and HATE me?"
Life answered
"because I am a beautiful lie
and you are a painful truth"
When people pass away
and your pain is overwhelming
They try to bring you comfort
with common little phrases of sympathy
"I'm sorry for your loss"
"everything will be okay."
"They may not be here
but they're in your heart"
"They will live on
through our memories."
"They will always
be watching over you."
These phrases
They think it helps
But how can it
they're just empty words
Those words of yours
won't bring them back
won't let me see their face
Those words of yours
can't heal this pain
can't make it go away
Those words of yours
won't make it okay
they're gone
and nothing can bring them back
You expect me to accept it?
You expect me to be happy
with memories and pictures?
Well i'm not
It's not them
I need them
Sure, they're in a better place now
but I never got to say goodbye
or hug them one last time
or see their smile
Yes I know they're gone
but no it's not okay
I wish they were here with me
but Death has taken them away

I'm one of those people, that when someone dies telling me that it will be okay or anything like that, just makes me upset. What I want, or what I need is someone to just be there. You don't have to talk or anything. Just be there. If I cry, don't tell me it's alright. Just hold me until I stop. I will accept that that person is gone in my own time. And no one's words can rush that.
That's what I was attempting for this poem to say. Idk if it does but that's what I was going for

I have, sometimes, thought about things such as these. And I agree with you that sometimes comforting words can still hurt, so it's better not to say anything.
But there was something I noticed "They may not but here but they're in your heart" did you mean, "They may not be here but they're still in your heart"?
